SENIOR ESIA CONSULTANT

Страна: Россия
Образование: Высшее
Опыт работы: 5-10 лет
Занятость: Полный день

The majority of our work involves projects in Africa, Europe, Russian Federation and CIS countries and a minor amount elsewhere, depending upon where our clients’ projects are located.  Our clients include major/mid-tier/junior mining companies, financial organisations and, occasionally, governments.

Our senior professionals are recognised industry experts in their areas of specialisation, and the company encourages individuals to develop their own professional interests, within the supporting framework of the department. However, this requires a commitment to high technical standards and continuing professional development from each member of the team.

Whilst OWR aims to provide a strongly supportive technical atmosphere with the required level of staff sufficient to meet our work requirements, it is realised the nature of consulting can sometimes require extra effort (out of hours work) from team members to meet deadlines or to accommodate travel requirements.

Post Responsibilities
The primary role is to act as a Senior Environmental Consultant, providing competent consulting services to support OWR projects and clients. Other aspects of the role include:

•    Working as part of multi-disciplinary OWR teams providing input on world-class project development studies
•    Acting as project co-ordinator and/or project manager on ESIA and other technical environmental studies, helping with project management and logistical arrangements of often large projects involving a number of sub-consultants
•    Representing OWR professionally, to OWR’s clients and interfacing at all levels with the client’s management and operations (and those of their other consultants).
•    Business development, including the generation of business from new and existing clients
•    Managing and developing Consultant level staff
•    Participating in reviews and/or audits under the guidance of Principal level staff

This list is not exhaustive and further reasonable duties may be requested from time to time as may be deemed in keeping with the job designation.

    Main Technical Responsibilities:
The work involved in undertaking this role may include the following activities, as well as other responsibilities as required:
•    Undertaking environmental & social impact assessments
•    Preparing project permitting documentation
•    Project management and co-ordination including: information control, planning and programming of works, commercial and contractual control, procurement, ensuring progress meetings are undertaken, production of progress and financial reports, close liaison with the client and their representatives, safety and quality control
•    Report and proposal writing
•    Mentoring consultant level staff as required
•    Liaising with clients and other consultants

    Essential Requirements:
•    Degree or equivalent in a natural resource related science or engineering subject with a higher degree in an environmental discipline and/or the majority of experience gained in an international (non-UK) environment
•    Previous experience of undertaking large ESIAs and contributing to project development studies, ideally for international (non-UK) projects and for a variety of commodities
•    Evidence of exposure to different environmental disciplines including air, water, geochemistry, noise, biodiversity/ecology, social and cultural issues
•    Proven track record of bringing projects in on time, within budget and to the clients satisfaction
•    Excellent report and proposal writing skills requiring strong English language skills (verbal and written)
•    Strong communication and team building skills
•    Business development skills
•    Effective organisation and time management skills
•    Proficient in Microsoft office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Working Conditions
Primarily office based in Cardiff, however it is likely that frequent overseas travel will be necessary, involving working in a variety of climatic and geographic terrains in addition to working in various mining and mineral processing operations. As a rough guide, some 75-85% of working time will be spent in the Cardiff office with the remainder based overseas in various locations.

Travel to overseas countries will frequently involve flying in-country using internal airlines. Extensive road travel to site locations when overseas is also usually necessary and road conditions can often be poor, especially outside the major cities.

The visiting of mining operations will be done in accordance with the client’s health and safety policies with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following the correct risk assessments.

Physical Requirements
Much of the work includes site visits and field programmes, and thus can be quite physical involving long periods of walking and standing, possibly some climbing and carrying of equipment and supplies.

The work involved will not include any form of mining related manual work, with the exception of limited sampling of various rocks and minerals.

Continuing Professional Development
It is the policy of OWR to provide employees with access to training. OWR regards Professional Registration for engineers, geologists and scientists as being fundamental to the advancement of both the company and the individual.  Individuals are encouraged to attend relevant courses and conferences, and coaching and mentorship will be provided as required. This will include ongoing training to improve performance and service to clients and to ensure ongoing development of the individual.  In addition OWR will provide specialist training in First Aid and dealing with situations that may be encountered during travel overseas, especially to remote areas.
